Representing the four elements namely fire, air, water and earth, the use of candles depending on the intentions since candles are used in some occult traditions and in witchcraft and the practice of magic, is not exclusively evil as we are made to perceive but rather candles are one of the powerful spiritual tools used in spiritual formulas with the flame, the smoke, the melted wax and the solid wax and wick symbolizing the fire, the air, the water and the earth element in that order.
The use of candles in spiritual work represents enlightenment and connection with the divine and they become spiritual transmitter or a medium through which our heart desires backed by prayer or command are poured out into the higher entities or the universe for manifestations and the right connection with the supernatural realm.

Colours have a role to play in some spiritual practices and since candles are also associated with colours, the use of candles can be combined with herbs or can be used in the form of candle activated herbs making our intentions more powerful for the desired results.
Remember candles represent the four elements when applied in spiritual formulas and the colour of candles we use in spiritual work have their purpose and meaning. A blue or light coloured candle can be used when one is struggling with emotional imbalance and seeks for the peace of mind, the feeling of being secured and be free from worrying, whiles the brown coloured candle which represent the mother earth help with whatever that has to do with stability, grounding and with mother earth.
